Patrick Galt

Junior Competes at Sheltie Nationals

Patrick Galt made the long drive, with his mom, from Maple Valley, Washington to Benson, Arizona for the Shetland Sheepdog National Herding Trial. Patrick is twelve years old and is currently competing with his two year old dog Manzanita and a ten year old sheltie Rosaline (Classica’s Love’s Labours Won) that belongs to his mom. He breezed through both of his Pre Trial runs like a veteran handler. Qualifying in both runs should be no surprise as Patrick has been herding with Shelties and Border Collies since he was 5 years old. Patrick’s mother, Melinda, started in herding before Patrick was even born. She opened up a herding facility/farm and that is the world that Patrick has grown up in.

Now Patrick has a dog of his own. With the Nationals starting with herding, he was off to a good start with a 100% pass rate. This is the first National he has attended that he has been able to compete in and he plans to make the best of it. He’s entered in herding, agility, rally obedience and conformation. We plan to see a lot more of this young man in the future.
