Simple
One Correspondence Address for All Your Dogs, Your Clubs, and Your Judging Activities

The easiest way to maintain the address information on file at AKC is to enter one address at which you receive all correspondence. The Primary Address listed will be the address, phone number, and email you entered when you created your account. If you want to change your Primary Address, just select Edit. If you want all the correspondence related to your dogs, your Clubs, and your Judging activities to be sent to one address, select the Apply to All function. This will apply your Primary Address across all your activities.

Allows you to change your password and/or the security question and answer for your account.

Authenticate Account

You can authenticate your web account at the time you create your account or at any time after you have an account. You can authenticate your account using one of the following two methods:
  • Authenticate Your Account Using Credit Card
You provide a credit card number, expiration date, your name as it appears on the credit card, and the billing address for your credit card. The AKC will use that information to verify that the address provided matches the information on file at that credit card company. Your credit card will not be charged. It is used simply as a means of identifying who you are.

Please Note: A credit card may only be used to authenticate (1) My AKC account. If your card has been used to authenticate another My AKC account, you will not be able to use the same card to authenticate a new account.

  • Authenticate Your Account by Entering an Access Code Sent to you by AKC
Upon your request, AKC will send you an Access Code to the email address AKC has on file for you. See Request an Access Code below if you do not have an Access Code.

    • Request an Access Code using a Dog You Own: You can request an Access Code by selecting the Request an Access Code option under Authenticate Account. You will be asked to provide a dog registration number for a dog you own as well as that dog's certificate issue date. The last name you provided when you created your account must match the last name on AKC records for the dog you entered.

If the dog you entered has multiple owners with the same last name, you will be presented with a list of names and periods of ownership to choose from. After you select your name from the list, your Access Code will be emailed to the email address AKC has on file for you. Once you receive the Access Code, use the " Enter an Access Code" option to complete the process of authenticating your account.

      • Invalid/No Email Address: If you do not have a valid email address on record for the dog you entered, you may either contact Customer Service or select the U.S. Mail button. If you select the U.S. mail button, your Access Code will be mailed to the mailing address of record for the dog you entered.

Please Note: "My AKC" accounts are intended to be used by one and only one person. Married couples, family members and business partners are encouraged to keep separate accounts. This is a good practice for several reasons. First, the use of a trusted online account to conduct business with the AKC will at times constitute an individual's electronic signature. Also, the information that may be associated with a My AKC account--such as dog ownership, judgeship, or club membership--is unique to that account; as such, there are situations where associations will not be allowed if multiple persons try to share a web account.

My Dogs
The "My Dogs" option allows you, to maintain a list of AKC registered dogs that you either own, have owned or that are important to you. In the future, you will be able to use "My Dogs" to conduct transactions related to the dogs in your list.
Manage Dogs
The "Manage Dogs" page shows a list of dogs that you currently own, have owned, or that you've identified as being "of interest". You can add other dogs you own or dogs of interest at any time by using the Add Dog features:
  • Add A Dog I Own
When you select the "Add A Dog I Own" option, you will be prompted to enter the Dog Registration Number and the Registration Certificate Issue Date. If the last name you provided when you created your account matches the last name for the dog you entered, the dog will be added to your list of dogs.

If the dog you entered has multiple owners with the same last name, you will be presented with a list of names and periods of ownership to choose from. After you select your name from the list, it is likely AKC will be able to verify other dogs you own as well. The other dogs you own will also be added to your list. If all the dogs you own are not identified, simply complete the Add a Dog I Own process again.

Once you identify yourself as the owner of a dog, you will not be able to remove the dog from your list. If a dog you do not own appears in your list as a dog you own, please contact Customer Service.

  • Add A Dog of Interest
You may add dogs you do not own to your list using the Dog of Interest function found in the Manage Dogs section of your account. When you select this option, you will be prompted to enter the Dog Registration Number or to search for the dog using the Search function. You will only see limited information about Dogs of Interest.

You may also acquire Dogs of Interest in your list when you conduct other transactions on the AKC website (i.e. when you purchase a report for a dog you don't own, that dog will be added to your account as a Dog of Interest) When you select this option, you will be prompted to enter the Dog Registration Number.

Other features in the Manage Dogs section include:

Sort

You can sort your list of dogs by Dog Name, Breed, Sex, and Whelp Date. To sort, click the column header by which you want to sort. For example, if you want to sort your dogs by Breed, click on the Breed header above the dog list. To sort in the opposite direction, simply click Breed again.

If you would like to sort by multiple headers click the primary category header you would like to sort by, then click the second header. (Ex. If you want to sort alphabetically by breed, first click Dog Name then click Breed.)

Display
The Display option allows you to customize your list by selecting which dogs to show or hide in your list. The display options are: All My Dogs, Dogs I Used to Own, Dogs I Currently Own, Dogs of Interest, Active Dogs or Inactive Dogs. When you select one of the display options, the list will automatically adjust to display only those dogs that fit the display criteria. The default display is Active dogs.

What is an Active Dog?
Every dog you add to your list will be initially indicated as "Active" (with a blue paw print next to its name). You can "Make Dog Inactive" or "Make Dog Active" at any time by using the Action functions. If your list of dogs is lengthy, it may be useful to mark those dogs which you do not frequently use as Inactive. And remember, your list display is always defaulted to Active Dogs, unless you select a different Display option.
Select
The Select option allows you to select dogs in your list on which you want to take an Action (See Below). The Select options are the same as the Display options. When you choose one of the Select options, the system will automatically select those dogs that fit the display criteria. When you select an Action and hit Go, the action will be taken on all the selected dogs. The default Select display is to have no dogs selected. In addition to the Select functions, you may hand-select a dog by clicking the box located to the left of the dog.

Actions on Selected Dogs
Once you have selected dogs, you can use the options in the "Actions" drop-down list to manipulate and organize the dogs in your list. The following three actions are available:
  • Make Dog Active
You can manage your display list by making dogs "active," and then changing your display to show only Active Dogs. If your list of dogs is very long, it may be useful to mark those dogs which you frequently use as Active. And remember, your list display is always defaulted to Active dogs unless you select a different Display option.

  • Make Dog Inactive
You can manage your display list by making dogs "inactive," and then changing your display to show only Active Dogs. If your list of dogs is lengthy, it may be useful to mark those dogs which you do not frequently use as Inactive.

  • Remove Dog of Interest
Use the "Remove Dog of Interest" option to remove a dog of interest from your list. You are not able to remove a dog you own, but you can hide the dog by making the dog "inactive" and displaying only active dogs. To permanently remove a dog you own from your list, you must contact Customer Service.
