Starting December 1, 2022, the AKC DNA Profile platform updated from 14 STR markers to 201 SNP markers. To compare sires, dams, and offspring across different panels, the AKC Parentage Evaluation Service can provide parentage assessments for $50. Please expect 4-6 weeks for processing. The American Kennel Club’s DNA Profile Program has always offered DNA Profiles, displaying your dog’s actual genotype. The Profiles include an explanatory worksheet that shows how the DNA genotypes displayed can be used to verify the parentage of offspring using the genotypes of the sire and dam.
AKC DNA Operations staff will evaluate that parentage for you! This service is offered for $50. The AKC will evaluate the parentage and provide you with a written report for the litter. The evaluation must, of course, be based upon genotypes on file with the American Kennel Club, from either the Parent Breed Club Program or DNA Profile Program.
To request this service, simply complete the Parentage Evaluation Request Form including all required signatures and return the form with payment to AKC DNA Operations Raleigh NC.
