Junior Showmanship

The Juniors at the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship had more than just success in the Junior ring.

Christine Engelsman, from Glen Ellyn, Illinois not only placed fourth in the Junior finals, she handled Ch. Jnek's King Ralph JH, owned by Kathy and Jeff Engelsman to third in the Sporting Group under Mrs. Billings.

Genevieve Ridderhoff, from Austin, Texas handled her Border Terrier, Ch. Binewood's Nopalito JE, co-owned by Judy Odum and Gerard Nash to second in the Terrier Group under Mr. Edd Bivin.

The Juniors who competed at the ALC/Eukanuba National Championship not only demonstrated their handling ability by having won five Open Classes with competition additionally, they had to have a 3.0 grade point average or equivalent. Beyond this criteria we know that many of the Juniors competing participate in other AKC Events. Krystle Bounds, who placed second in the Junior finals has handled her Pembroke Welsh Corgi to a CD title as well as to an Excellent and Excellent Jumpers with Weaves in Agility.

Juniors competing are also scholar athletes on their school athletic teams, vocalists, thesbians as well as active participant in their communities doing therapy dog work and representing the sport of purebred dogs as responsible dog owners.
