Meet the Breeds

The Bearded Collie Club of America took top honors in the Best Booth in Show contest, part of the highly successful AKC Meet the Breeds at the AKC/Eukanuba National Invitational Championship.

One hundred thirty seven breeds were presented by their parent clubs to the interested spectators and visitors at the show. From 12:00PM through 6:00PM, breeders, accompanied by their dogs, answered questions and handed out literature to help the public make knowledgeable, responsible choices about adding the right dog to their family.

"The popularity of the AKC Meet the Breeds area and the interest of the media made all the work worthwhile," said Dennis B. Sprung, Vice President of Corporate Relations. "the clubs should feel very proud of the job they did educating about their breed and teaching responsible ownership to so many people."

Helping the public feel they had "met the breed" was one criterion for the booth competition. Other criteria included visual appeal, originality and a theme representative of the breed's history.
