Crufts Dog Show 2006 Crufts Obedience World Cup Team
American Kennel Club Announces 2006 Obedience World Cup Team to Compete at Crufts

Crufts results are here!

The United States placed seventh out of 11 countries competing for the Obedience World Cup. The England team placed first, with Holland in second place and a tie for third place between Wales and Eire.

The directed retrieve was a problem area for the large dogs. From the scores that are listed on the UK website, they did a pretty good job with the heeling exercise. The UK has different heeling requirements than the U.S. They require that the dog's head and shoulder never leave the handlers leg. In the U.S., we would have points taken off for crowding. You can see how different they have to train their dogs for this competition.

Let's give the obedience team a big congratulation for their efforts, their extensive travel that has to be done to get to the event, and all the training that they have to do to prepare for this special competition.

They all represented the United States well, and we are very proud of all of them.

Team arrives in Birmingham
Friday, March 10, 2006

After a long trip, the obedience team arrived in England at 6:00 am this morning.

They are competing against 10 other countries: England, Belgium, France, Holland, Northern Ireland, Wales, Channel Islands, Eire, Scotland and Switzerland. The competition starts on Sunday, March 12th from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm. Hopefully, they will be able to get a couple practices in before the actual competition starts.

The USA drew 1st in running order. Celeste Meade will be starting the USA with her Border Collie, Zoom. Kathy Rasinowich-Platt will be competing 2nd, for the USA with her Golden Retriever, Shale, and Dave Gannon will be 3rd in running order with his Golden Retriever, Skater. Unfortunately, Bridget Carlsen was not able to make the trip with her Golden Retriever, Soupy. We are also the only team to have Golden Retrievers.

Log on to our website to see the results from the competition on Sunday.

Wish them Luck! Go USA!
