Spotlight on Juniors in Performance Events

Phoebe White

By Bonnie Hidalgo, Executive Field Representative

10-year old Phoebe White of Scappoose, Ore., began working with dogs at age 4 and has been involved with bird dogs all her life. She started her aim toward a Junior Handler certificate in the show ring in 2004 on her eighth birthday. This summer White handled her own Weimaraner to second place in an Open Gun Dog stake at a local AKC field trial. She has since competed in other AKC events and, having mastered the art of good sportsmanship, handles the bad performances as well as the good. White has plans of making a field champion and one day judging AKC field trials.
